Residency + series of performances

The HOWEVER Project was a month-long residency, culminating in a week of consecutive three hour long performances. The project took place in Tavros Space in Athens in October 2021.  Edvina Fahlqvist made the live improvised soundscapes for the performances.

The concept of this collaborative performance project, curated and coreographed by Despina Sanida-Crezia, was based on everyday internet search queries, serving as ready-made tasks that generated verbal scores to guide actions, covering both physical activities and abstract concepts. Each performer had their own tasks and territories, and they collaborated when necessary. The actions were united by the effort and labor required for each task, reflecting a self-improvement process akin to machine learning. The scores functioned as constant choreographic reminders within the space, while a wooden installation created a maze-like environment, and the sound structure mirrored the movement's progression, including layers, steps, failures, and retries.
